Bwahaha actually i didnt know much about all these shit. Only after 2 Years in Swinburne KUCHING <--(lasap place) then i discovered how pieca shit civil engineering is. F6 dudes out there, turn back before it's too late!!! Go take architecture!!!

Here's a brief scenario:
-Architects designs a certain building until FHUUUAAAAA
-Architects feel proud and having fun
(Meanwhile)
-Civil Engineers:"yamakacheebuy this SeanChewSengHuat walao f*ck man"
-Calculate.
-Calculates with colleagues.
-Calculates again
-and more calculation
-Calculate
-Calculates
-and more calculation
-headache
-bangs the wall
-Curses SeanChew the architect agian
-knock head on the wall
-knocks the wall more
-enter quarrel with colleague
-fight
-injury
-more calculation
-hair loss
-FINALLY! The whole shit is stable !!! IT STANDS!!! (with this this that that etc material + various calcs)
-ok 1 of 20 complete, 19 more to go.

And that's in office work. w00t we have field work to get urself sweaty wearing safety helm and boots and gettin all high on mud - yea baby. zz

After everything's finish, most of the time the architects get all the credit for designin this FHUOO thing and the $$. Whilst eng people get ignored and if the building/bridge/wadever fails/falls we go to jail.

Another useful skill i learnt in architecture school

The power of bullshitting. Mwuahahaha. It's true. To bullshit on the spot needs true skill and time to master. According to my tutor, it's a skill that will help cover-up your mistakes ( in my case, flaws in my designs ).

Myth? What myth?

What myth do you guys have about studying overseas?

Before I came here I didn't really think much about living overseas. It's just like a 'wham bam, thank you ma'am' sort of situation for me. It all happened so fast.

I've been in Melbourne for almost 3 years already. It feels more like home now.

Every year I have a different perspective of this place.

I remember the first year I came, I had no idea what Melbourne looks like. The only glimpse of it was when I was on the plane and I saw some pictures of it in the magazine. Even during the first year, I did not really explore much of Melbourne, it was basically go to school and come home sort of situation. Then second year here, I slowly explored the city and all its small lane ways. I got more familiar with my surroundings. Now third year, I hope to explore more of the surrounding areas of the city.

Ok i am talking BS again. hahahah...... I would encourage you guys to go travel. Not just for a week or 2. I mean really really stay there for at least a month. You'll truly learn things that you'd never thought you'd learn

Architecture school

How many of you have always wondered what people study in architecture school? How many of you think that all we do in school is just learn how to draw and shit? Well, we DO NOT just learn to draw and shit. We learn about the world, culture, people and shit.

Nah, I'm not going into that topic. If you're interested, you could ask me.

What I wanted to share with you guys is one of the lessons that I learnt that I find quite interesting.

I learnt that there is no such thing as an absolute randomness. Or rather, I do not believe in absolute randomness. I believe that things that may seem random, may not be random at all, they might be affected by some other factors.

Ok this is absolute bullshit. I'm just bored.

Architecture school is fun but stressful. Its not like all the other school where you have to study a lot. Read tons and tons of books for research. Well, it's not like I don't do research. It's just that my research can come from anything, be it just by watching movie, listening to music, basically just doing what I like best. ( *it only applies to my design subject, I still have to read books for theories and shit* ).

Why am I telling you all this?

It's because I think most of you don't know what it's like. Well I didn't. I sort of applied to do architecture by impulse without knowing what I was up for. It's like taking a blind leap of faith into an unknown territory.

Now, I'm already in my second year. I really enjoy what I'm doing, even if it kills me. I enjoy doing work in uni till 2-3am. I enjoy playing around with glue. I enjoy the freedom to express who I really am in class. You can't do that with maths or statistics now, can you?

I'm not here to brag or whatever. If you're studying engineering or going to study engineering, you'll grow to hate architects. Mainly because we have fun doing what we're doing, and you're working your ass off to make sure our fun doesn't get out of hand.
